A Full Israeli Breakfast With Hedai Offaim
April 16, 2020
Food is one of the most fundamental ways we connect with one another — making a meal, sharing a meal, and talking over a meal. On itreks, coming together over meals is one of the highlights of the week, as participants sit and reflect upon their experiences of the day.
Amid recent social distancing efforts, itrek is bringing this same connection to our participants and alumni together through virtual events. The first such virtual event took place last week – a cooking class for itrek leaders with acclaimed Israeli chef Hedai Offaim.
Hedai is the co-founder of Ofaimme model farm for sustainable agriculture, where he raises organic livestock, fruits and vegetables and produces sustainable products that are sold in the farm’s shops and restaurants around Israel.
We were honored to welcome Hedai to lead a cooking class for itrek’s leaders on the Israeli breakfast, arguably one of the tastiest meals on the planet. In the class, Hedai taught viewers how to make three different kinds of Shakshuka–Classic Shakshuka, Shakshuka with Meat, Chickpeas and Spinach, and White Shakshuka–alongside a fresh pan-baked pita.
We invite you to watch the cooking class by clicking on the video below or download Hedai’s recipes, by clicking here, to make a full Israeli breakfast of your own.
