We’re thrilled to announce that itrek has recently absorbed insideIL, an elite program that gives graduate students from top universities the opportunity to live in Israel for a summer and intern at top Israeli companies, NGOs or think tanks. This year, itrek alumni, as well as current graduate students and recent graduates from our partner schools can apply for an insideIL internship.

InsideIL was founded in 2014 by two Harvard Business School alumni, Sara Greenberg and Della Heiman, as a way for their peers to experience the professional and personal benefits of working in the Start-Up Nation.

Internships for Summer 2021 were posted on February 1 and can be found here. Internships have been posted by many prestigious organizations, including: Start-Up Nation Central, OurCrowd, Susquehanna Growth Equity, MassChallenge Israel, Horn & Co., S. Horowitz & Co., Fischer Behar Chen Well Orion & Co., The Association for Civil Rights in Israel, Molad, Israeli Gay Youth (IGY) and more.

To give you the inside scoop on an insideIL internship, we spoke with Marla Becker, who interned at Tel Aviv-based health-tech startup Keheala in Summer 2019, just after graduating from INSEAD with an MBA.

What drew you to insideIL and working in Israel?

I found a great opportunity to join a health-tech startup, where I focused on product marketing, which was a role I wanted to be in after my MBA. I got to create my own path, and the CEO and I hit it off from the start. On days when I finished my work early enough, I could leave the office in time to catch a beautiful sunset at the beach.

What was the experience like?

It was one of the best summers I’ve ever had—both from a professional perspective and also being with my friends from INSEAD, who were also interning through insideIL. We swam in the sea every day, went to clubs, ate lunch in the shuk and even visited Petra in Jordan to see the ruins. It was an unforgettable time—and a great way to gain some entrepreneurial experience while getting paid in U.S. dollars.

Did the internship help with your career going forward?
Yes, absolutely! My internship gave me experience in the role I wanted to move into in healthcare marketing, which was really important when I started interviewing. It helped me land a full-time job with a health-tech company called RubiconMD when I came back to New York. I would enthusiastically recommend interning through insideIL and spending a summer exploring Israel to any MBA student or recent graduate!

Applications for exciting work experiences at tech startups, VC firms, law firms, NGOs and more are now open for Summer 2021. To learn more about insideIL and find your next summer internship in Israel, please click here.
